Search for Candidates to the Juan de la Cierva Postdoc open position at the Environmental Microbology Laboratory (EnviroMic Lab) of the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas Margarita Salas-CSIC (Madrid).

Our group is specialized in the revalorization of contaminants and organic waste through conversion to value-added products using microorganisms. The line to which the hired person will join is devoted to the biotechnology of lanthanides, attending to three main objectives: (i) molecular basis of bacterial bioproduction and physical-chemical characterization of lanthanide nanoparticles, (ii) engineering whole-cell lanthanide biosensors through synthetic biology approaches, and (iii) bioleaching of lanthanides for sustainable biomining and biorecycling applications. The project will be carried out in collaboration with groups of the Department of Chemistry and Material Engineering of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Complutense University of Madrid and the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Science of the University of Granada.

PhD degree in Biology or related discipline is required. Participants must complete the requirement of having a doctorate degree obtained between January 1st, 2022 and December 31st, 2023. Candidate must have experience in molecular microbiology techniques. Experience in techniques such as ICP-OES, electron microscopy, transcriptomics or bioinformatics will be highly considered in the selections.

Interested candidates must contact to Manuel Carmona (mcarmona@cib.csic.es) to schedule an interview in which more details of the project will be supplied.
